PowerBookG4 M8981J/Aを購入するまで活躍してくれたWorkstationです。最初はオーバースペックではないかと思ってましたが、使っていくとアプリケーションの起動速度やOS 全体のキビキビした動きに慣れてきて重宝しました。

Dual CPU+SCSI HDDの構成は、使用目的によってコストパフォーマンスがよくないことも事実です。しかし精神衛生面での快適さは、かえがたいモノがあります(笑)。次のWorkstationもXeonかOpteronを採用する予定です。もしくは、PowerMacG5も...。

ただ、使っていて色褪せた感じが全くしないので、Adaptec 2010SのRAID0環境とFull SCIS化、DIMMに投資してみるのも得策かと検討中です。

追記:

2009年9月 WindowsXPをMacBook Proへ仮想化したのでサーバへ。OSはFreeBSD 7.2。

2011年 FreeNASへ移行してファイルサーバ化
